Subaru rattling noise under car
When driving we would occasionally hear a metallic rattle noise when under light acceleration at low RPMs, specifically when making a soft turn. The car has about 1k miles on it and the noise became more frequent. This was not a soft noise or quite noise, when it happened you would think "Holy shit what is that".
There are lots of car parts that do nothing but rattle and fall off. Why pick on the heat shield? The heat-shield manufacturers have to eat, too! ... And because they're all under the car and ... When we put some some acceleration on, the noise stops. what was the concern? the annoying noise for 2 secs, or that it would fail in the middle of nowhere? given the noise was only when cranking the starter, then it perhaps would be prudent to suggest that at worst the problem may simply mean the car may fail to start at some time, rather than screech to a halt in the middle of a freeway.

Open the hood, jack the section of the car the noise is coming from up, and tighten the bolt right under the dampening knob.
